Peach Picking

It's the lovely season of peaches. Castle and I went to the orchards and did some picking and lots of munching. Quite an enjoyable afternoon picking peaches straight off the trees and taking sweet bites.

The Industry

Dr. Castle and I are quite excited that a new food place opened in my neighborhood, the INDUSTRY. He is hoping for a nice bar and I am looking for good eats. We tried it out the other day. Dr. Castle was really happy with the beer selection, one of his favorite was on tap, Ale Smith. He ordered the burger, which was tasty and a nice basic burger. As for me, I just want to snack on many, so I had the pork nuggets and veggie fritters. The veggie fritters were disappointing, nothing special just fried balls. However, the pork nuggets were really quite good; very juicy inside and nicely crusted. The flavor was wonderful. For dessert I had the berry shortcake, was a nice one for the hot summer, quite lovely. I will definitely go back and try some of their other dishes, plus the place is so close by.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Another wonderful pie by Dr. Castle. I had never tasted rhubarb before, so this is my first time having strawberry rhubarb pie. It is delicious! I love how tart and sour rhubarb is, which makes perfect pie filling. Dr. Castle also hand wiped up some cream to top the pie with. He is no doubt the king of pies.

Another Year

Dr. Castle, knowing my dislike for birthday cakes, asked what I would rather have. I said fruit tart...and I got one! Dr. Castle's beautiful fruit tart is amazing; refreshing, creamy custard, great crust, soooo yummy! That night we went to happy hour at FARMiCiA with wonderful company. I had a couple of my favourites drinks, and ordered asparagus risotto croquettes for dinner. It's delicious; creamy risotto inside and light crunch outside. Quite Happy.

Gourdough's

Deep into the night, hungry for sweet fried dough. The big fat donuts truck, Gourdough's, can satisfy your sweet craves and can tempt you to gorge in more sweet grease. They have a great selections of donuts toppings, and their donuts are over the top decadent. They also open late night; perfect for anyone who doesn't care about their waist line and just want to indulge themselves and have sweet dreams afterwards. Well, we enjoyed to excess and humour ourselves with these wonderful donuts for two nights straight. Funky Monkey is my favourite, we also had the Dirty Berry, Son of a Peach, Black Out, and Razzle Dazzle.

Louie Mueller Barbecue

Best brisket I ever had! Louie Mueller's meats are wonderfully moist and glistening with fat! The pork spare rib and the baby back ribs were also lips smacking good, tasted excellent. Their beef ribs were sold out by the time we got there, and didn't get the chance to try them... although my belly already expanded to the max with tasty meat. We ended this indulgent meal with gooey peach cobbler topped with ice-cream. Yum!

Saffron in Atlantis The Palm

The last great meal before leaving Dubai was the buffet at Saffron in Atlantis The Palm, a 5 star hotel. Saffron restaurant is huge, there are many varieties of food mostly Asian cuisines; from oysters bar, to sushi, to Chinese Dim Sum, to Indian curries, Mongolian BBQ and much more. I couldn't try every dish, but I ate until I could barely lift my belly. The desserts section was phenomenal. There was just so much there. I wish I can eat them all, it was a wonderful meal.

Al Iwan at Burj Al Ara

An exquisite buffet of Arabic cuisine at Al Iwan restaurant in Burj Al Ara, the 7 star hotel in Dubai. Lunch is more than 100 $US per person. The place is decorated red and gold with spectacular sea views, and the food is very good. Some desserts are very interesting, tasted something I never had before.

Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi

One of the many great meals I had while in UAE was at the 8 stars hotel, Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. The hotel is gorgeous and is covered with gold! The buffet had a great variety of food, and desserts were fantastic. I had 3 savory plates, and 4 sweet plates, still I didn't try everything. I was so full I had to carry my belly the rest of the day.

Philly restaurant week: Fuji Mountain

Dr. Castle and I had a good time there. This is one of our favourite cuisine, and it was pretty great. We had sashimi salad, tuna tat tar, sashimi, sushi, grilled sea bass. Green tea and red bean ice-cream for dessert. Our bellies were quite full after the meal. We also had some sake, which made the meal even better.

Philly restaurant week: AMADA

Eating at Amada during restaurant week is really a great deal. I enjoyed every dish we ordered. For first course we had plate of olives, Garrotxa cheese, serrano ham on melon(my favourite), and a plate of serrano ham. Seconds course we had beef shortrib flatbread, chicken breast with truffles topped with fried egg, roasted sea bass, and grilled scallops. They were all wonderfully delicious! And the desserts were also quite good. O! plus we had a pitcher of very tasty sangria. I think this is the best iron chef Jose Garces's restaurant in Philly.
