more more desserts from Hong Kong

Egg custards made in egg shells. These were very dense and creamy.

Left is the mango with black tapioca, on the right is fried durian. I never like durian; didn't taste it, so I can't say if is good or not.

All the Chickens

At almost all the big meals in Hong Kong, there is a chicken dish.

Dinner at The Mon

My favourite dish from The Mon is the Japanese omelet, like a soft fluffy pillow, the eggs are folded into many layers. There are other great dishes too. My cousins loved the fried cheese. My sister like the ginko nuts, I like them grilled. The dessert we had was sweet potato mochi, very soft and delicious.

dim sum

DimSum is a meal consists of many different small dishes, similar to Tapas from Spain.

Some of the small dishes include, pork small intestines and duck tongues.

There are many varieties of dishes, all kinds of flavors and ways of cooking.

Here we have chicken feet, spicy fish head, pork buns pan seared on both sides, and fish scallion pancakes.

BEST MEAL so far

Thinly sliced Yellow Jack, each slice melt in your mouth.

A trio of sashimi, Toro (fatty tuna about 13$US per slice), salmon, and Akagai.

From top Tamago (egg), Aji and Uni.

Clockwise from top, miso Cod, clams and soft tofu hot pot, and then salmon and prawn roe, then we had yakitori squid, eel and ginkgo nuts.

On the left is makuro tuna in slimy white yam paste (gross texture but refreshing taste), then for dessert I had red bean and green tea ice-cream. My stomach looked like a cannon ball after the meal, but is all worth it!

desserts in HK

With every meal come desserts. The top is a traditional brown sugar steamed cake, one of my favourite, and not many places have them anymore. The steamed cake is not so sweet, is steamy warm and very soft and spongy. Then there are the puddings. Left are baked egg puddings with taro paste filling; warm, soft and sweet with a crusty top. Yummmm. Right is the mango pudding, one of my family favourite.

Dragon Fruit

The fruits are so light and refreshing tasting, I love it! They are very good for digestion, and will help after many big greasy meals, clearing out the stomach. Definitely one of my favourite fruit.

Street Fish Balls

While my twin and I were shopping in Mongkok, we came across many food stalls; we had curry fish balls and fish siumai. I always love HK street food, great snacks. Although my twin insist that 7-eleven has the best curry fish balls.

Flight to Hong Kong

I am currently in HK. My flight was a long journey from Philly to Dallas Fort Worth to Los Angeles. Wait in LA for 8 hours then continued with a 14 hour long flight to HK. During the 8hrs! in LA, I meet up with some of my family and had dinner at Curry House. The dishes there are pretty decent, I had the curry eel sizzling stone bowl. Tasty meal before a long flight.

What was Cooking

Full credit to Dr. Castle here for the wonderfully delicious blacken salmon with beans on rice and sharp cheddar. We went to the Foodery to grab some beer, Dr. Castle was like a kid in a candy store. He picked up some very very nice summer beers for us.
